Meet Our Past Speakers
Bezaire, Ted
Ted Bezaire is a born and raised Windsorite who debuted in film with the short The Putting Edge in 2004. Following this came one of Bezaire’s more well-known works, the short film Pria in 2005.
Only a year after Pria came Bezaire’s first feature-length film Things to Do, a comedy movie about a man haunted by an incident that caused him to quit his office job and decide to create and complete an adolescent bucket list with an acquaintance from high school.
From this, Bedzaire found his groove in comedy and would go on to create Birder in 2011 and Boys vs. Girls in 2019. His upcoming film, Vampire Zombies… from Space, seems to be following his tradition of crass and over-the-top comedy styling.
Downs, Dorothy
Dorothy Downs is an accomplished woman when it comes to the entertainment industry, starting out on stage and on camera for small projects. She would jump into producing after becoming a mother, making multiple short series on parenting-related topics.
After getting hired as a communications/corporate marketing specialist at 3M, Downs would go see her son’s film, All-Flight, in 2015, which gave her the idea to create a film festival in London, Ontario. This would become the Forest City Film Festival and Forest City Youth Film Festival, where she still sits as the Executive Director for both film festivals in addition to Executive Director of the Ontario Screen Creators Conference.
Fricker, Glenn
Glenn Fricker is the lead engineer and face of Spectre Sound Studios, part of the Spectre Media Group. He has been making records for over 16 years.
Fricker started his YouTube channel to pass on his knowledge to others with fully edited tutorials for everything from amps to vocals. He’s an avid supporter of not using crutches and instead doing things the right way, earning him 500,000 subscribers. The channel has aided many indie bands with their recording ability. Thanks to this, Spectre Studios is still going strong to this day.
Kansoun, Raward
Raward Kansoun is a Lebanese filmmaker, getting his start as a producer in Lebanon being part of 7 films. From there, he would become an instructor in the Communications and Arts department at the Lebanese International University. Eventually, he found his way to Windsor, Ontario, and became a professor at St. Clair College.
For over 20 years, Kansoun has worked on a feature film as a passion project. The 2020 explosion in Beirut not only destroyed his life’s work, but also took the lives of 200 individuals. Kansoun arrived in Windsor in 2023 and revitalized his passion with the debut of his short film, Planted. Kansoun continues his work in the film world with the short Anlian and the upcoming The Proposition.
Luppino, Matthew
Matthew Luppino is a Windsor-based jack of all trades in the film industry, taking on many roles himself to get projects done. Graduating with high honours from the University of Toronto in 2015, Luppino tested all his skills with his first work, the music video Trouble I’m In, released the same year.
Also released within 2015, his short film The Blink of an Eye won 3 awards. Luppino’s work tends to lean towards the dramatic and dark, in both his films and music. Luppino is working towards expanding to thrillers and comedies in the future.
Paterson, Shae
Shae Paterson is a Toronto-based cinematographer who has worked with multiple media companies, including HBO, CBC, and Google. Paterson works as a cinematographer, gaffer, camera, and condor operator, as well as a production manager in movies such as Retrocausality.
Due to his award-winning skill, he has worked alongside A-listers in the entertainment industry like Arnold Schwarzenegger and Sylvester Stallone. His dedication to his craft goes beyond cinematography, as he prides himself on his experience filming with the latest cameras from Sony, Red, Arri, and Canon, knowing what to shoot, and how to get and light his shots.
Revelle, Rick
Rick has written 5 books on indigenous subject: 4 historical fictions that take place in the 1300’s, and 1 fiction that has been righted for a TV series. His presentation will explain how he writes in order to make each chapter tell a story that educates, excites, and immerses the reader in the action. His stories describe smells of forests and villages, aromas of food, animals, and even people. During warfare, he puts himself into the midst of the action to describe the noises, agony, and flow of battle. Storytelling is writing. He is a knowledge keeper for the Upper Canada School Board and the Limestone School Board. In the past ten years, he has made storytelling presentations for over 20,000 students.
Stasko, Michael
Michael Stasko is a born and raised Windsorite who got his start with film studying at the University of Windsor. From there, he went to Sheridan for his post-grad, and he returned as a professor to the University of Windsor. Stasko is a versatile filmmaker who not only hops from department to department, but also from genre to genre.
Stasko has worked as a writer and producer since 1991. He made his directorial debut in 2003 with the short The Show. His first feature-length film, Iodine, a mystery sci-fi movie about a detective finding his father, released in 2009. His most recent directed feature is the 2019 movie Boys vs Girls, and he is working on his next upcoming film, Vampire Zombies… from Space.
